ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Are you a high school student passionate about fashion? Immerse yourself in the exciting world of fashion design this summer with Drexel University’s Pre-College Fashion Design Program, July 13th-19th. This one-week residential program offers an exclusive opportunity to explore the creative process behind fashion design while expanding your skills and portfolio, living in the dorms on Drexel’s campus and having fun along the way!
What You’ll Experience:
- Hands-on Studio Projects: Learn fashion illustration, draping, print design, natural silk dyeing, and technical sketching. Work with cutting-edge tools like Clo-3D and Shima Seiki’s Apex knitwear design software.
- Lectures & Insights: Gain inspiration from Drexel faculty and industry professionals on topics like sustainable design, print design, historic costume, digital technology, using AI as a design tool and portfolio presentation.
- Field Trips & Industry Exposure: Explore Philadelphia’s design scene by visiting design studios, art museums and local attractions. Connect with industry leaders to learn about diverse careers in fashion.
- Portfolio Building: Create original designs, digital artwork, and 3D renderings to jumpstart your fashion portfolio.
PROGRAM FORMAT
It’s not all work! You’ll enjoy fun campus and city activities, including:
- A silk screen workshop with Drexel’s Visual Studies faculty.
- Evening trips like an after-dinner run to Insomnia Cookies with your peers.
- Exciting field trips to local attractions like Bok Building which is filled with the city’s coolest makers, artists and entrepreneurs and Wonder Spaces, a unique interactive art experience.
- Opportunities to relax, socialize, and bond with students who share your passion for fashion.
PROGRAM DETAILS
Eligibility
Open to high school students who have completed their sophomore year by July and are at least 16 years old.
Tuition
$2,250, covering accommodations, meals, materials, field trips, and more. Deadline for final payments/forms is June 13, 2025.
Registration
Spaces are limited to 18 students, so apply early! Applications include a personal essay and a school transcript.
